It's been a little quiet on the old blogging front for me this last month. The problem is I want my posts to have as much substance as possible. The idea of doing a post a week about what I've done since my last one, a week previous, isn't my idea of stimulating reading.
Sometimes, I will attend something that is worth a few words. For the last few years Telford Town Park has seen an afternoon full of local bands performing FREE to the public. This year was no exception. A total of eight bands graced the impressive stage in the middle of 'the bowl', an impressive vision on its own. Sadly, I was on my tod, and stayed for only three of the acts, those were; People Are Things, Give Chase and Broken Again. From only watching those I realised the crowd were in for a real mix of musical genres. The first were a cocktail of rock and indie, Give Chase were rock, trance, dub and indie and Broken Again were heavy rock (when i say heavy, i bloody mean it). I think Give Chase took the biscuit for me, completely unique (as you can guess by the list after their name above). The mass of audience members who were obvious fans spoke volumes. It was a complete eye opener, as not a massive fan of cross genres in the musical capacity, this was really rather refreshing. I should also point out the talent these lads had, vocals of the lead singer were spot on and the dancey/trancy backing tracks sounded awesome together with the rest of the band on stage. I thoroughly enjoyed it, for all who will actually read this, ill pop a link to their Facebook page at the bottom. They are 100% worth a gander.
For any Telfordians reading this, be sure to attend next year’s Park Live.

Can we have a round of applause for Mr Noel Gallagher......
Noel Gallagher has a new single 'The Death of You and Me', taken from his upcoming album (and might i add eagerly awaited) 'High Flying Birds', watch the video for the single on the links below. And this is a MUST.
I feel that the Gallagher brothers get a bad press, usually because they are saying every swear word in the history of the English language infront of a dozen journalists, however i find Noel is a truely compelling character. In a recent interview which i watched at www.nme.com, i found his response and reason towards all questions asked created what i had forgotten i love about the music industry. The 'i dont care to much about what you think' rock and roll star. There is something about Noel that just makes you have to watch him, he has the same confidence as Liam, however it does not get conflicted with arrogance or ignorance. He doesn't fear to say what he thinks, but not because he wants to make an impact, but because thats just what he thinks. This sort of honesty is exactly what the music industry is lacking.
Personally, i show no interest in music these days, i listen to golden oldies on my ipod, for example; Squeeze, The Stone Roses, Ocean Colour Scene, The All-American Rejects and of course Oasis. Not to mention a hint of the 00's pop which flooded with the likes of Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys. I feel slightly nostalgic towards music, and im only 23. Surely this is not what it would be like in the 21st century. Discussing the industry (after watching a great few programmes with Guy Chambers on BBC2 called 'The secret of a good pop song', followed by 'The secrect of the rock anthem', hopefully they are on iPlayer for those who haven't seem them) i feel i hit the nail on the head for me. It is just not personal anymore. Even Oasis albums were forced to be created by the record company, we want to hear songs writen and created by the artist which we can relate to, so the common ground is we understand each other. Songs like The Saturdays - Notorious has zero relevance in my life, and therefore i passively listen to is when Radio 1 decide to play it. I am by no means a massive Adele fan, however her performance on the Brit Awards moved me because it did her, shes captured the personalisation which makes me fall in love with music. Someone Like You is a classic pop song, the emotion is caught at the right level, and lets face it, we've all been there.
Moving back to Mr Gallagher, I am really enjoying this first single. It of course will sound 'Oasisy', and im sure people and critics will dislike that, after all he was the brains behind that entire operation. To think it wouldn't sound a particular way would be naive. As an avid Oasis lover this is welcomed. It's nostalgic enough for me to think i already know it when i first heard it. But thats great. I listen to the single about 5-10 times a day. It makes me happy and excited ( a feeling i haven't had for a good few years with all the tripe in the charts these days). The wait for the album will be excruciating, more of this is whats needed in life. He will be doing some live gigs too, he has confirmed three dates in October. Sadly, none of those are Birmingham or Manchester, but i hope the later released dates will be one of those destinations, I have to go and watch the master, on his own, all his own tracks. It will be stuff that dreams are made of.
So, thank you Mr Noel Gallagher, you've truely restored my faith.

Number 1.
What more could be better than an online diary of my movements, thoughts and interests? This is why I've decided to start a blogging site. I'm sure it will be as boring as my life is however will allow myself to empty my deepest, darkest thoughts on to paper (or type on a computer as it were).
First things first, I've successfully managed to set this up on google, without coming across masses of problems, for me, this is brilliant. There are a lot of different websites which offer this service and i suppose choosing one is a big deal (not for me). Hopefully the more i do, the better ill be, well thats the idea anyway.
Today, I've spent most of my time watching the Hungarian Grand Prix, this was the highlight of my weekend. After the recent exposure of the deal with Sky, and that next season the BBC will only have the rights to show 10 out of the 20 races throughout the Formula 1 calender, it saddens me even more. Savering each and every race of this season on the BBC will be the main aim in my life for the next few months. For none F1 fans, i can hear you, but for me, and a lot of my friends, this is a big deal. Surely doing a deal with the Murdoch's is the closest you'll get to the devil. Either way, it's a terrible shame, the BBC do a great job at broadcasting sports, with a long list of brilliant presenters who not only do it as a job but have a huge involvement and interest in it as well. I can only feel that this personal touch will be a thing of the past once moved to Sky.
And yes, i do feel most of these will be rants. So be sure to be warned.
